EjmenAl-Ubejdij
I build at the intersection of AI and real-world systems, and publish the research to prove they work.
Built to solve
real problems.
From cooperative blindspot detection to cancer cell analysis to cross-campus scheduling. Each project started with a problem that mattered.
CLEARS: Cooperative Emergency Alert System
Senior Design project: a computer vision-based cooperative blindspot detection system that uses vehicle-to-vehicle wireless communication and sensor fusion to alert drivers of hidden hazards. Trained and validated using CARLA simulation on Unreal Engine, then deployed on real hardware and demonstrated on the road.
Advised by Dr. H. Alnweiri | Built with E. Al-Amri
Problem
Drivers cannot see vehicles in their blind spots, leading to dangerous lane-change collisions.
Solution
Built a cooperative system where vehicles share sensor data via V2V wireless, fusing inputs to detect blind spot hazards and alert drivers in real time.
- YOLOv8n fine-tuned on CARLA-generated scenarios for robust detection
- Vehicle-to-vehicle wireless communication over ESP32
- Real-time inference on NVIDIA Jetson Xavier AGX
- Validated in CARLA simulation, then demonstrated in a real car on the road

Student AI Helper App
An Android app for attendance using fingerprint authentication, real-time integration, math support via Desmos, and an AI speech-to-text grammar checker for Arabic and English.
Privacy-Preserving Emotion Detection
An emotion detection system using PyTorch on Raspberry Pi, ensuring privacy preservation by processing emotions locally. Connected to an AI server via Flask for enhanced inference.
Arabic Sign Language Interpreter
A sign language interpreter for Arabic using two models: one for words and one for characters. Integrated text-to-speech, head gesture control for touchless navigation, and MediaPipe with TensorFlow and Flask for real-time interpretation.
